Vacations part 1: USA USA
// August 27th, 2009 // Hinote, Mortis
I was hoping I could blog a lot during the vacation, but of course I got lazy. I will post a lot today, just to catch up, while BO server is installing.
Vacations have been quite relaxing. The USA part was all about spending time with her siblings and her family. The Québec part about relaxing at my parents house or like we say it, chillax (chill - relax), and the Toronto part about spending time together.
The last day of work was boring, most people were gone in vacation already, and the level of motivation at its lowest. When I got home, I had to pack,mostly new clothes, getting my weight down to 199, and finish cleaning the apartment, so it look nice when I came back with Hinote. I was done around 1am and slept until 7am. Left home around 9am, the taxi driver was an ex IBM engineer, so it was a chat about database while in the car. Pearson was empty when I got there, one person waiting in line for ticket, and 2 in front of me for security. So in 5 minutes I was at my gate, 2 hours to kill before boarding. Mostly listenened to my ipod and played some NES games on my PSP.
Hinote and her brother pick me at the airport. It was so nice to see her after 2 months ^_^ We got the wrong exit, and end up driving by Chicago downtown. It was around 4 when we reached the town and we were all hungry. So it was time for famous Chicago beef sandwich from Portillo’s, with fries and milkshakes. Yummy.

We spent some time eating dinner all together, it was so long since I saw her siblings. Hinote installed a air matress next to her bed in her bedroom. We felt like teenager’s having a sleep over. I expected that IL would be quite warm, in the 100F, but it been cold, so we slept quite well, and she has a giant fan over her bed, so it felt very comfortable.
Sunday we drove to her aunt to get an traditionnal Italian dinner. Hinote always said that her aunt food is the best italian food you can get, and after tasting it, I have to agree with her. Lasagna, Pasta with homemade gravy (sauce), meat ball, garlic bread, salad, and key lime pie, strawberry pie and carrot cake. We ate so well that day. I met more of her family there, uncles and cousins. Monday we took the day at home so she could work on hw. We played monopoly with her youngest brother, it’s a good way to count. I had like 25% of all the places, while Hinote only got the most pricy one, and she won that way, so later that week I used that strategy against her…
Tuesday we got to Fry’s, a big electronic store. I look at netbook and some hardware but didn’t get any. I will probably get a netbook soon, so HInote can use it during the day at school instead of carrying her giant laptop. We ate the heaviest burrito I ever got that day. Her parents also got the refrigerator full of tiny ice cream (so cute *_*), it’s like individual package, I ate some all week.I played some Mario Striker and left for dead wednesday night with her younger brother. For some reason, i love Mario Striker. I bought it for her siblings for christmas. Her brother also spend a lot of time with my PSP and also Resident Evil 5. The game seem really good, but mostly like a shooter now, not survival horror.
The Thursday morning, when i woke up, I had a IM from mom saying that my uncle died, after 2 years battle with the cancer. He was close to the family, and I moved at my cousin when going in Ontario, so it’s close family. Mom wanted to let me know and that the funeral would probably be while we were in Québec. Hinote worked more on her homework that night, while all her siblings were in her room. We ate the famous Chicago style deep dish pizza that night. the Pizza is so huge you only take one slice, Giordano’s pizza:

Friday was our last day in the US. It was a stressfull day, cause Hinote has a exam in the morning, so she studied all night, and we were suppose to go see her aunt after. While se was in college, I got ready and ate breakfast. They had like 10 boxes of cereals because of a big family, so I felt like in a store. When Hinote was ready we pick her up. There was construction all over in the parking, so we had to find another place. I walked in to see her, and there was 2 deers crossing my path. We left the town after, but got lost because of wrong map quests info. We finally got to her aunt around 4pm. Everyone was very nice, I was glad I could meet her aunt finally, she’s the one that make it possible for Hinote to come study in T. We ate there, more US pizza *_*, and her aunt drove us to the airport because her brother had to work until midnight. We took a limo from the airport and got to her parents house around 9pm. Her dad drove everyone to DQ, so we got Ice cream together. When we got home we tried to spend some time with everyone, Hinote felt tired, but she had to pack , she brought things there for 2 months. I falled asleep on the bed, and when I waked up around 7am, I watched a movie, Tout est parfait, on my ipod. I wake her up after, and we finished packing and get ready. We said goodbye to everyone, filled the car and got drinks cause her brother felt sick, and we hit the road, more paying highway. It’s funny for me, cause every pay stop have different price, 50 cents, 80 cents, etc so her brother have a big can full of change just for that.
We got at the airport, did the ticket thing (for some reasons the machine doesn’t like canadian passports), long line at security, but they opened a line just for us, and close it after we were done o_o so it was fast for us! We got a juice for Hinote, and I ate a banana bread and chocolate at Starbuck while waiting for the plane. We took pictures of the tunnel of the airport with all the lights also. We were not sitting together for the fly, but they had to move people in executive classe, so I found place where we could sit together. We hold each other, Hinote trying to sleep, finally her summer classes over, so she can rest, while I was listening to music and ticking of the US part of the trip.
This trip was really for meeting her siblings and her family, so I’m glad I could do that. I enjoyed playing Mario Striker, monopoly and video game with her younger brother, laughs with her sister and her stories, spend time around and talking tech stuff with her older brother, being sarcastic with her dad, and watching stuff with her mom while chatting., and ratdog is very entertaining. The food was great, and strangely I didn’t gain weight, but it would change, with 2 weeks of my mom food.
