Vacations part 3: back home

// August 27th, 2009 // No Comments » // Hinote, Mortis

We flew that Sunday. I had still a week of vacations. We were happy to go home. We had so much lugagge and felt quite hungry at Pearson, but decide to go home. I was also glad T fixed their garbage strike. We got home and 10 minutes after it was like we need food time to take a walk and grocery ^^ We stopped at my favorite asian noodle place, I got my classic chicken brown rice, pineapple cashew and peanut sauce. After that we walked to the 3 grocery close to get stuff for the evening. T spent the next 2 weeks around 95F-107F it was so warm and humid, it changed our plans for doing things we wanted to go to the zoo, but 5 hours walking in those conditions seem a bad idea. We will go soon.

When we got home I plugged everything back, internet and the computer, I had to reset Rogers terminal from their website. Aki booted fine, but we got some problem with Mr Purple. Hinote was so glad to be home in her things. And it was so nice to get the cloud back. My parents made a new room for us, but the matress they bought is very firm.

The next day we just did errands to get more food. I sunburned with that small walk. So for the rest of the week every day started with breakfast, shower, put sun screen and go out, even for a 10 minutes walk. Hinote made her her butetr chicken with small potatoes and rice. We both missed it a lot, so we wanted to make it as soon in Toronto. We watched a movie at night. I also got a domain name for her and one for me using our names in it. And I also got a month of WoW for Syrenia. We played some that night.

Monday we decide to go at Eaton for some Chipotle. We ate that week the food we missed while gone. I got an Itunes card to try their movies service. We walked to make the food move down, and after that Coldstone! Hinote always mentionned how great the ice cream is there, and that I should try it if going in the US, but they opened one downtown. So we got waffle bowl, with cookie dow ice cream for her, and cream for me.

When we got home, I downloaded Push and we watched it on Itunes. Good movie I had no expectation for it.

The rest of the week we WoW a lot, watch stuff, web round, finally having our computer and just enjoyed being home together. 3.2 Hit while we were gone, so lot’s of stuff changed in the game. I felt rusted.

Also, if someone ask you to watch, download Knowing, with Nicolas Cage, just don’t. Go sleep, do your taxes, it will be more entertaining. It started like a mystery movie like da vinci code, switched to horror in one scene, after that a typical destruction movie with such a poor physic explaination, religious at the end, and aliens O_O. We spent like an hour after the movie finding new flaws in it. Just do yourself the favor and dont watch, even by accident.

Vacations part 2: Vive le Québec…

Playing - Les Cowboys Fringants: Rue des souvenirs.

This song  make me think of my childhood, a nostalgie from the past, your memory always making it feel better that it was sometime.

We landed in Québec city, there was a long line at custom. Took some time to explain to the agent, why we were travelling from Chicago, Québec, Toronto, one canadian passport and one US. We met my parents, pack the car and stop the the Normandin because it’s always on the way before going in the park. It was 5pm, so we were quite hungry, Hinote tried the wrap and I got a chicken grilled panini. We talked with them about our US trip, got news of my family etc.

It was cloudy and quite cold in Québec city, and it seem it would be the weather we would get while here. We drove 2 hours in the woods, when we got home we were so tired, we falled asleep fast, my parents made a room for us downstair so we have privacy.Tonnerre was happy to see me, but you can see he is getting old. He still have his temper tho.Anger is the only feeling he seem to know.

My mom made muffins and fruit salad for breakfast. That would be our breaskfast for the next 2 weeks, she was always making new kind of muffins for us, and a different fruits salad. I normaly don’t eat much from breakfast, but when there is 20 muffins waiting on the table…We took the day to relax, I surfed a little on dad computer, my old one, Misono, and I did tiny errands with Hinote, getting the stuff missing or that we didn’t bring , traveling by plane.Mom made crepes for dinner, and I stopped at the video club to get 4 movies for 4 days. We always catch up with movies in summer, everything being close at early in the region. We watched a movie after dinner with my parents.

The monday was my cousin birthday. But the funeral of her dad was the day after, so we were not sure how to act on it. I wanted to go shop for a gift for her. After the tough year she got, and she mentionned it often, I decide to give her a pink ipod nano. We also picked up a wireless router at staples, we wanted to use Hinote laptop to surf or our ipod also, but dad only got one connexion. After dinner, we set it up. Violet became our main computer for the next 2 weeks. Sharing a computer was something new for us :laughs: but it went well, I was doing my web round on the couch in the morning. But its why I will probably get a small netbook. My dad drove us at my cousin around 9pm, we gave her the gift, I chatted a little with my aunt and we left. We watched another movie that night.

Tuesday morning we got ready for the afternoon. It was the first day that was sunny since we were here. I took my mom car and we got to the funeral home from 1pm to 5pm. I met a lot of my family there. Its was open until 10 pm, but the formal funeral was the day after, so when it close at 5, we left and drove back to IGA. The atmosphere is always heavy  from funeral, and we decide to make a salad together, after all that food from vacations. We felt quite relax going at grocery there, large space for aisle, not much people and stress like downtown. We made a huge salad, spinach, cucumber, peper, tomatoes, crouton, my hometown cheese and renee dressing off course for Hinote. We bought a small brewery maple québec beer but it was not that good.

The Wednesday was the funeral. We got in the funeral home in the morning, and got to church after. I remember standing on the stair in front of the Saguenay river, waiting to go in. The cathedral is really beautiful. After that, we got a small lunch at the funeral home. Later that night, my friend Math visit us, he played a little on the PSP and after that we left to go play pool while Hinote stayed at home so we can get some guys time. We played and chat, so it was quite calm. We got donuts on the way home, but I only ate one.I know him since I’m 12 years old, so it’s still funny to see we are still thinking the same.

Thursday was was coquillage day! It’s a tradition since I left Québec, I feel like I miss nature, after all the highway and high rise. We drove by La Baie, stop at la fromagerie Boivin to get fresh cheese curd, and stopped at a place where I really love the view :

My dad got coffee for Hinote and my mom on the way. It’s funny, he got cofffee for both of them a lot of night during the 2 weeks we were there. We stopped in l’Anse Saint-Jean to get fresh pies from Louise bakery. My dad just love her rasberries pies. After that we drove to Charlevoix.We stopped 30 minutes to a big fall that is well hidden in the wood, with a small dirt trail. We took pictures and movie there. We stopped on a beach next to the Saint-Laurent river. we ate on top on the mountain before going on the beach.My mom made us chicken breast panini with veggie and cheese and we ate some of the fresh rasberries pies. We walked there for an hour or 2, my feet in the water, relaxing to the wave sound, and cold water, finding coquillage, seeing live shrimp also. It feel so calm with my feet in the water. I got at archambault that night and got la fille qui revait d’un bidon d’essence  et d’une allumette. The second book of the millenium triology. I read late at night in my hometown.

When we got home we made a fire also, so my petite amie can do her famous multi layered guimauve.

The Friday me and Hinote decide to shop. She always love going to the mall there, always finding good sales. We also have the car, no stress from people walking all over like Eaton center. I got a component wired for my PSP. Hinote found some shirts on sales, she was quite happy about it. We walked around the mall, while drinking a green tea matcha smootie. I call Math in the mall parking, and I pick him up at home, we left Hinote there, she made dinner for her, and we drove to the neigbhour pizzeria. Pizza with a crust of melted burn cheese, with bacon and pepperoni. It tasted like home. *_* We rented movies after.We stopped at IGA for fresh bread for toast (honey bread) and got a 6 pack of Unibroue Honey beer.

We watched half of watchmen and got bored, so we watched the last underworld after. We made a fire. Math said in his blog that he is the best to make them, so I had to test him. We made great toast and guimauve while chatting a little. It was a very nice evening. We took a picture when he left.

Saturday we did some errands and mom made a fondue, Hinote’s favorite meal. Small lean slice of meat, bread, fried rice and mom found a cake she froze. I was joking with her, saying she always have a back up cake in case it’s needed.

The Sunday was my father last day of vacation. We drove to my grand father cottage. I searched for small strawberry with Hinote, I swim for maybe an hour, my uncle said the water was at 72. Hinote stayed on the deck. Water felt cold, but I miss being in a pool so much, so its always nice to swim. When we were ready to leave, we stopped at my uncle cottage to say hi. We end up in his hot tub next to the lake, quite relaxing at 95F for the water and after that we did a boat ride, high speed on the lake. It felt so great. The dog was walking all over the boat. When we got home we watched Defiance.

For the second week, my memory are less clear. The weather was quite bad, with a lot of rain and cold, so we couldn’t do as much we wanted. So we enjoyed some time home, trying to rest. My mom made us steak and fries one night. She used a pot for fries, so I decide I would get her a fryer for that week.I got the last Millénium books and read it quite fast during the evening and morning.

We also saw an old picture of us at our first summer there, with Hinote with purple hair, and me with small beard and shave head. Hinote mentionned how cute I looked, so I said let’s go get an hair clipper. We stopped at a store when I could get some boxers, found a hair clipper, and after I teached her how to make my hair. She was nervous but did a great work. It was strange to see me like this again, took some day to get use to it again.

We made more fires at night. My mom made brochettes, pineapple upside down cake, peanut butter muffins. We decided to print some of the summer pictures so we stopped at a photo print shop, while we waited an hour, we found a good jeans jacket for Hinote. 7$ shes loves my region pricing. The day after we stopped for ice cream, Hinote got frozen yogurt, I tried a crazy sunday cup, so sweet. We got mom a safe fryer, with a container where you don’t need to touch the oil. Mom was quite surprise, and tested it the day after.

The Friday, I stopped at my aunt to see her, and my cousin with her kids. I wanted to see everyone, made sure they were ok, and played with the kids. We stayed for an hour on the deck, Chico (the dog) running around, playing with a ball, and chatting with them.We also got at Mikes an evening to try the brownie volcano together. The dessert is so big, you need to people to eat it, a dozen piece of brownies, ice cream, whipped cream, nuts. We felt so full after.

The saturday we got breakfast all together at Cora’s. Giant gauffre with a billion (rough estimate) strawberry on it. It was the last day in my hometown. We could have done something, but I just feel like staying home, resting on the deck, chatting with my parents, packing. I falled asleepa round midnight and hinote continue to pack and join me after. It was different for her to sleep 6 hours before travelling.

We woke up early, pack the car and drove to Québec city. We got there, got rid of luggage, took a coffee and chat with my parents for an hour while eating a tim muffins. Security was fast and we waited for the plane, reading and trying to surf. I got a science & vie but I haven’t read it yet. It was sunny for the fly, but it seem Toronto would pay later that day.

You always feel sad leaving that place, but at the same time, I was craving time home with me and Hinote alone.H aving Hinote now with me, makes things so better. Normally after vacations, I felt down, for august. My girlfriend, family and friends so far. It’s possible now that I see my region with rose-colored glasses, I only go there on vacations now, so I missed those summer trips, relaxing with her there but I still see how life can become boring there. And also how the rhythm of life is so slower and more relax. So I always crave the next vacation there in summer. I think we got a nice 2 weeks, we needed to relax, and my hometown is the perfect place for that. I wish we could have visit Québec city, but next year it will be fun to visit. But this time I will make sure to book hotel in advance to make sure we go. Or maybe a trip in other région also, like Gaspésia.

See you soon Saguenay kingdom!

Vacations part 1: USA USA

// August 27th, 2009 // No Comments » // Hinote, Mortis

I was hoping I could blog a lot during the vacation, but of course I got lazy. I will post a lot today, just to catch up, while BO server is installing.

Vacations have been quite relaxing. The USA part was all about spending time with her siblings and her family. The Québec part about relaxing at my parents house or like we say it, chillax (chill - relax), and the Toronto part about spending time together.

The last day of work was boring, most people were gone in vacation already, and the level of motivation at its lowest. When I got home, I had to pack,mostly new clothes, getting my weight down to 199, and finish cleaning the apartment, so it look nice when I came back with Hinote. I was done around 1am and slept until 7am. Left home around 9am, the taxi driver was an ex IBM engineer, so it was a chat about database while in the car. Pearson was empty when I got there, one person waiting in line for ticket, and 2 in front of me for security. So in 5 minutes I was at my gate, 2 hours to kill before boarding. Mostly listenened to my ipod and played some NES games on my PSP.

Hinote and her brother pick me at the airport. It was so nice to see her after 2 months ^_^ We got the wrong exit, and end up driving by Chicago downtown. It was around 4 when we reached the town and we were all hungry. So it was time for famous Chicago beef  sandwich from Portillo’s, with fries and milkshakes. Yummy.

We spent some time eating dinner all together, it was so long since I saw her siblings. Hinote installed a air matress next to her bed in her bedroom. We felt like teenager’s having a sleep over. I expected that IL would be quite warm, in the 100F, but it been cold, so we slept quite well, and she has a giant fan over her bed, so it felt very comfortable.

Sunday we drove to her aunt to get an traditionnal Italian dinner. Hinote always said that her aunt food is the best italian food you can get, and after tasting it, I have to agree with her. Lasagna, Pasta with homemade gravy (sauce), meat ball, garlic bread, salad, and key lime pie, strawberry pie and carrot cake. We ate so well that day. I met more of her family there, uncles and cousins. Monday we took the day at home so she could work on hw. We played monopoly with her youngest brother, it’s a good way to count. I had like 25% of all the places, while Hinote only got the most pricy one, and she won that way, so later that week I used that strategy against her…

Tuesday we got to Fry’s, a big electronic store. I look at netbook and some hardware but didn’t get any.  I will probably get a netbook soon, so HInote can use it during the day at school instead of carrying her giant laptop. We ate the heaviest burrito I ever got that day. Her parents also got the refrigerator full of tiny ice cream (so cute *_*), it’s like individual package, I ate some all week.I played some Mario Striker and  left for dead wednesday night with her younger brother. For some reason, i love Mario Striker. I bought it for her siblings for christmas. Her brother also spend a lot of time with my PSP and also Resident Evil 5. The game seem really good, but mostly like a shooter now, not  survival horror.

The Thursday morning, when i woke up, I had a IM from mom saying that my uncle died, after 2 years battle with the cancer. He was close to the family, and I moved at my cousin when going in Ontario, so it’s close family. Mom wanted to let me know and that the funeral would probably be while we were in Québec. Hinote worked more on her homework that night, while all her siblings were in her room. We ate the famous Chicago style deep dish pizza that night. the Pizza is so huge you only take one slice, Giordano’s pizza:

Friday was our last day in the US. It was a stressfull day, cause Hinote has a exam in the morning, so she studied all night, and we were suppose to go see her aunt after. While se was in college, I got ready and ate breakfast. They had like 10 boxes of cereals because of a big family, so I felt like in a store. When Hinote was ready we pick her up. There was construction all over in the parking, so we had to find another place. I walked in to see her, and there was 2 deers crossing my path. We left the town after, but got lost because of wrong map quests info. We finally got to her aunt around 4pm. Everyone was very nice, I was glad I could meet her aunt finally, she’s the one that make it possible for Hinote to come study in T. We ate there, more US pizza *_*, and her aunt drove us to the airport because her brother had to work until midnight. We took a limo from the airport and got to her parents house around 9pm. Her dad drove everyone to DQ, so we got Ice cream together. When we got home we tried to spend some time with everyone, Hinote felt tired, but she had to pack , she brought things there for 2 months. I falled asleep on the bed, and when I waked up around 7am, I watched a movie, Tout est parfait, on my ipod. I wake her up after, and we finished packing and get ready. We said goodbye to everyone, filled the car and got drinks cause her brother felt sick, and we hit the road, more paying highway. It’s funny for me, cause every pay stop have different price, 50 cents, 80 cents, etc so her brother have a big can full of change just for that.

We got at the airport, did the ticket thing (for some reasons the machine doesn’t like canadian passports), long line at security, but they opened a line just for us, and close it after we were done  o_o so it was fast for us! We got a juice for Hinote, and I ate a banana bread and chocolate at Starbuck while waiting for the plane. We took pictures of the tunnel of the airport with all the lights also. We were not sitting together for the fly, but they had to move people in executive classe, so I found place where we could sit together. We hold each other, Hinote trying to sleep, finally her summer classes over, so she can rest, while I was listening to music and ticking of the US part of the trip.

This trip was really for meeting her siblings and her family, so I’m glad I could do that. I enjoyed playing Mario Striker, monopoly and video game with her younger brother, laughs with her sister and her stories, spend time around and talking tech stuff with her older brother, being sarcastic with her dad, and watching stuff with her mom while chatting., and ratdog is very entertaining. The food was great, and strangely I didn’t gain weight, but it would change, with 2 weeks of my mom food.

Le dernier mois et demi, Millénium, problèmes avec Aki (80C), virus au bureau?

// July 10th, 2009 // No Comments » // Mortis

I always want to write in the blog, but not much have change, just the daily routine, trying to eat well, losing weight, work, wow, sleep, rince and repeat. I will try to write everyday for summer vacations, the vacations always been so important for us, wanting to have some memories of it, because it was a long time before seeing each other again.

Life without Hinote is quite different in T. Her stuff is all over in the appart and seeing Purple off doesn’t feel right. Having all the bandwidth for me also.

I’m in the trip preparations now. Errands almost every nights, trying to find summer clothes,etc. Lot of shops here, but most of the clothes gone. Got a FZ-28, a new superzoom camera. it seem to take great pics, but i didn’t test outside much, no park close, etc

The 2 months at work have been quite intense. June always one of the toughest, and everyone feel burned out. I’m not sure if a virus, allergies but everyone feel so tired, spending weekend to sleep, no energy or motivations. It was quite strange to have everyone say the same thing. I dont have kids, so if i decide to take a nap sunday afternoon, so be it. But the lack of motivations to do anything was annoying.

Normal, you get all excited for vacations. It will be a great one. Maybe its because the weather felt more like spring , grey and colder, but my mind still doesn’t realize that in one week, I have a a big trip.

Aki was giving me problems. Bleeding edge technologies, but she can be stable or unstable depending to her mood. I wake up in the morning and the computer is off. Happened also while encoding certains videos. It was not happpening often, so I supposed a bug or codec issues with the files trying to encode. But it got worst last friday night, differents files, etc.

Before going shopping saturday I decide to check the cpu tempeature. the computer was at IDLE for a while. The appart is quite cold, around 68F with the airconditionning. I remembered last summer, with no air con, how tough it was , all the fan at max for the computer. I didnt expect much. When i checked, it was 73Cm when it should be 30C. While doing a quick encoding it was going over 80. So i guess the board was turning the computer off so the processor survived. The motherboard temperature was good tho, around 23C, so the cooling in the case is quite good.

I decided to turn it off and check when back from errands. I opened the case and the intel stock cooling was a block of dust. I cleared all the dust. I decide to be sure the remove the heatsink to see. The thermal paste was completely gone on most of the cpu. Arctic silver melting is a first. I ran to get paper towel, and cleaned the cpu and fan with alchool after. I had some arctic silver left, so i reput some on the processor and heatsink, and reinstall it. Temperature back at 30C, encoding  at 48C-50C. I tried to do a small overclock, 2750 mhz, but it was unstable. I need to get a real cooler that fit with the new striker and i will try again. Maybe a new project for the last week of vacation.  It’ suppose to got at 3.0ghz easy. I’m glad I found the source of the problems tho, i could have a burned cpu. It seem the machine could support 5 hours of raiding tho.

Cleaning this weekend, more errants, got the shorts, I need shirts, shoes, etc

Have a safe fly

// May 31st, 2009 // 2 Comments » // Uncategorized

I always say those words to Hinote right before we leave each other at the airport. So now it’s a tradition, hoping to bring her luck and a safe fly.

I changed the header of the site again. Hinote’s mage have her wolf head now (level 60 PVP Epic set) and as you can see, the shaman gear continue to get ridiculously overpowered.

The week of may 10 was the last week before Hinote was leaving for summer class in the US. She didnt have any hw, so we try to spend as much time possible together, watching stuff, eating good food, etc. The subway broke the Tuesday, I had to walk  7 km. We ate after a shower, you know i was tired when I almost falled asleep with food served in front of me. I had to shopped for gifts card for parents and birthday card/mother’s day card also.Got some beer the friday night, funny i found La Maudite from Québec, so I had to get a 6 pack.

The saturday was the last day for her in T. I gave her the choice to choose what she wanted to eat so off course she choosed Chipotle. We had to go to the mall to get last minutes gifts for siblings. It was so warrm there and so much people. She also got an ipod case. We got 2 cake slices on the way home, eating half of each of them together and relaxing more. I got in bed at 2am, but Hinote packed all night long.

I woke up, shower and it was time to leave. Hinote was tired, and she felt like she would be sick in the taxi, the driver was always switching lanes, driving fast. We got at the airport, no one there, a 3 day weekend, but it was the Sunday. We sat with bottle of water and stuff for breakfast. Normaly the sadness always very strong, but feeling sick, not slipping and so much to do, we were more focus on that. I waited that her plane took off for leaving, so we spoke on the phone and watched an episode of the last season of Galactica.

I got some Asian noodle (coconut curry sauce, with whole grain rice, pineapple, cashew, chicken) for take out and ice cream to bring home. The appart felt empty, so I put music, and found a 5 hours Naxx 25 to keep me busy. The monday was an Holiday’s so I just walked in the neighborhood, get food, etc

There was a lot of things to do at work in the last 2 weeks, so it kept me busy. Hinote doing 2 summer classes there while visiting her siblings. We were stressed that we couldnt have our vacation together, but she’s able to do the last class s independant, so we will have a full moth together. One week in the US, 2 in my hometown and one in T together. So it will be a great summer ^_^

Another weekend edition

// May 12th, 2009 // No Comments » // Mortis

What a nice and relaxing weekend. It was the first weekend for a long time when Hinote didn’t have any study and homework. It’s also the last one before she’s going to see her family and do summer classes there. So the plan for last weekend and this week is to spend as much time as possible together. We were downtown Friday night, watching the International and eating our traditional  steak burrito/fajitas and Ice cream after. While heading home, we got grocery at the same time, with the risk of thunderstorm for Saturday, we wanted to avoid being in the middle of a sandstorm again.

We woke late Saturday, it was raining hard, but we got lucky, a lot of place in the GTA got Hail. I did some dailies while Hinote was still sleeping, and found a was to configure the NAS over PnP, so the PS3 can see it and be use as a media center. My computer is connected directly to the TV, but Hinote used the PS3 + USB stick when she wanted to watch something. It solve now, only problem with the share folder over the NAS is that it only refresh the list every 5 min in the GUI. I need to check if i can change the setting with a script.

It was sunny in the afternoon, I did quick errands, got 5 cheese pasta for us with bruschetta, some cookies and cream ice cream, and apple walnut scroll and chocolate scone for me for a quick snack in the afternoon. Having backery close to home is always fun.

We decided to WoW together when I got back. we got her mage almost to 62, its started well, but end up being ganked by a DK at same level that us. Having very low tolerance for ganking, and a level 80 avalaible, I end up flying the Shaman there for protection purpose. The DK died, and log out. So we are using mainly quests for rising her level. We ate dinner and watch Valkyrie after.

Sunday, I was updating stuff on Hinote laptop, it will be her main computer while she will be there. It,s a very nice laptop, but the memory was only at 512 megs, so a lot of swapping. I optimized the settings for WoW, but even Firefox was slow to load.It was sunny, so we decide to walk around. we got coffees and a muffin, walked where all the computer stores were, found memory for her laptop, stopped in a use gamestore also. It always a memories trip to see Nintendo Power Glove, some Atari, and a wall of Sega cartridge. When home, she installed the memory, I tested everything. It seem to swap less now. She worked on her jewelcrafting and needed some rare items, so I tried to solo an old 20 men raid. I got some of the items, but it was tough. We ate some chicken , rice, salad combo and spent more time together after!

Congrats Hinote, Paris je t’aime, more loots!

// May 7th, 2009 // No Comments » // Mortis

Hinote did her last exam yesterday during the afternoon. Her first year in T is done. One more year and her double majors is over. Deciding to come here, doing all the paperwork, getting funding, moving using airplanes for your things, living in luggages in my tiny apartment, the craziness of the day we finally moved, all the walking in winter, all those long nights doing problems sets and not sleeping. But it was worthing it, isn’t it?  Proud of you petite amie! We had a fun year together ^_^!

Now she can take a 10 days break. She’s starting summer classes soon in the US, but it will also give her the chance to see her siblings. We will use the next 10 days to spend some time together, watching jdrama, getting good food and coffees,etc Shaman is on hold until then!

We finally were able to watch Paris je t’aime. Every time we want to watch it, something happens. I think they should have less different stories in it, but expand them more. It goes from mediocre short stories, to great one. It was interesting tho. Quais de Seine, Bastille, Place des fêtes and Faubourg Saint-Denis were very good. We are not French tho, but it’s fun to see all those arrondissements.

After her test, while Hinote was getting a drink with people in her classe to relax a little, I got a slice of pizza at the italian place and got home.I cleared all the leaves outside around our door, and some around the house. It’s a basement, so there’s bugs, but pill bugs eat leaves, so im trying to remove some of their food. The apartment is clean but being a basement…

After I was done, I decide to try to pug Naxx 25, planning to not play much until shes going in the US.I end up in a guild run, where everyone seem to be in Tier 7.5 so I thought maybe I would have some chances for loots. 4 hours later, we cleared all the 15 bosses. I got a 213 level belt, a level 200 chest armor, but it got replaces by Tier 7.5 (level 213) chest piece in the same run, and I also won the tier 7.5 legs. 2 rolls of 91 in a row. So now I have 4 pieces on 5 for my tier armor, so I have all the bonuses.

Sandstorm, giant Pizza (with pictures), more exams!

// May 4th, 2009 // 2 Comments » // Mortis

I updated the header picture of the blog. You can see Hinote’s mage with Noblegarden (Easter in WoW) items, with bunny ears, eggs basket and flowers. You can also see the new gear of the Shammy. He seem like a very sociable guy in that pic.

Last weekend Hinote studied a lot, because she had a test Monday and one Tuesday” Every student hates those back to back exams. We ate at the Asian noodle place friday, and after we stopped at a cake shop, Cinnabon cheesecake for Hinote, and White chocolate berries one for me. We brought them home, split them in 2, and eat them while watching something.

I was Wowing in the afternoon Saturday while she was working on the previous exams of physic. It was 30C outside. We decided around 4 to get the food to make a giant pizza. We walked 5 minutes, and got in the middle of the storm.Some part around the town got mini Tornados.

The wind was around 100 km/h. With all the construction on the street, sand was flying everywhere, we had it in our eyes, mouth and nose. We had to run back home. Off course, not much to eat in the house, we are doing grocery daily. Hinote used some veggies, white rice, eggs and terryaki to make an asian bowl. It was Yummy.

Sunday we didnt took a chance, and got out early for grocery and errands, while getting a coffee. We found a place that sell pizza dough, so when we got home Hinote start making the pizza. The instruction didnt say if it was for 1 or 2 pizza. It seem fine in the cooking plate, and we knew it would be rising, but we got surprise by the end result. Biggest crust ever (1.5 inches):

Pizza with large crust

Pizza with large crust

Yesterday, we took the subway, and my old bus trip, to go see my cousin and her kids. The commuting is still as long, but it’s better with Hinote to chat with. I was feeling a little tired, raiding from 1am to 4:45 am.

We stopped to my second home there (the mall) to get lunch. Crunchy caramel and green apple crepe for me, and banana with Nutella for her. After we ate, we bought some color chalks for the kids and some stuff to make bubble. We spend the afternoon on the deck there, while the kids were playing in a small pool.  First bbq of the year, with cheese burgers and ice cream.  When we got home she studied more while we tried to get KT down in the 10 mens Naxx. We failed a lot, we will try tonight again.

After that, I will take a 10 days break of raiding, Hinote going in the US soon for summer classes, so when her exams are finish it’s gf time!

Too many digital camera models

After work, I met Hinote so we could bring back the S220 to the store. Nice camera design but shitty pictures quality. Hinote did some research for a compact camera, getting a list of model numbers. They didn’t have any of them at the store I got it, so we got the money back. We ate a burrito and ice cream and shopped in electronic store. We got her a Canon SD790 IS. Good picture quality,  3 inches screen and solid case. Sure it’s not pink but we agree that quality vs fashion for electronic. So this way she has a tiny camera she can carry everywhere. I’m still thinking getting the Powershot SX10 IS or SX1 IS for me. Megazoom FTW. The button broke on my sony H2, bad quality of that part, so I’m using Hinote earring to take picture.

While shopping for her camera, we realized how confusing it’s getting with all those different models. Canon has 11 models active between 200$ and 300$. Do you want a bigger screen, more zoom, with AA batteries or not. And marketing wise, they always think the more megapixels the better, sensor quality doesn’t matter! That make me think of the megahertz race, and AMD fighting it, when they were doing more operation by seconds.

So you end up with a previous model with a better image quality and higher model number that the new one. I’m all about choice, but you  need to do your hw to know which camera to buy.

We got home and they wow patch was still at 60%. We watched 24, Terminator, and Hero. I installed the patch, looked at the talent tree changed, but server were instable, and decided to wait for tonight play. Server queues will probably back again..

Birthday,cake, computer problems, trip home, patch 3.1..

Lots of things happened since the last update. We made a fondue for Hinote’s birthday. She also wanted an ice cream cake so we got one, cookie dough with purple vanilla frosting. Very yummy, but the day was warm, and she has to carry it around in the subway fast to get home while I was at work. The cake survived the trip well.

For some reasons, it was tough this year to find her a gift. I choose a small digicam, the Nikon S220, so she can have  a camera so small, always having it around. I also updated her first generation touch with the new OS and put cooking Mama on it. I gave her the gift at midnight. The camera is well design, very small, but we really dislike the picture quality. It seem impossible to get a clear pictures, even with playing with all the settings. So we will probably return it or exchange today and grab a bite at the same time. Not sure what we will do for her gift.

The last week have been crazy for her, quiz, 4 problems sets and a presentation to do. She almost didn’t sleep. Tuesday she worked with a lab partner home until 1am on the radio active lab.The apart got chilly at night, so I put both heaters so it’s warmer. First time I plugged them that way tho, so I end up having a breaker failing. The electric box is in the apart but locked, she we could access it. Hinote had to do hw on her laptop and the owner fixed it in the morning.

Wednesday, she was was working late at school on a problem set, so I got food on the way home, and I started a naxx 25 men pug, Aki started normaly. A random guild with immature people, but we were killing the bosses quite fast. It was around 10pm when Hinote got home, I just got a cloak and nice weapon.

She tried to boot Mr Purple, her computer, but it was impossible to start, rebooting every 5 seconds, and the screen all black. It was a big problem, some documents for her presentation on it. After an hour of trying we gave up.She didn’t want me to put her drive in my computer with our luck.

While she was making dinner, I remembered that I have spare memory for that computer, the Zalman being too big, she could only use 2 dimms, but I have 4 sticks of 1 gig.  I switched them, and everything worked.  That was a close call but it make sense, computer always break at the worst moment possible, like my p2 350 mhz breaking in exams week, and 2 days before finishing a contract.

Thursday the subway broke while being on it, so I had to walk 5 km to get to work. We got home around 5:30pm, packed and left taking the subway to meet my cousin. 12 hours of driving to meet my parents in my hometown. We were all tired, but I don’t sleep much in car. A lot of coffee involved. The last 3 hours in the wood was painfull we stop were my parents pick us up, got breakfast and made it home around 8pm. I slept until 2pm. My mom made pancakes with my hometown cheese in it and we just relax home that night.

Saturday I invited my parents for breakfast and me and Hinote did some shopping during the afternoon, a formal event I didn’t know force us to try to find more formal shirts. Mom made a chinese fondue and a chocolate fondue, and after dinner I watched the game with a friend, and we got out to play pool like old time. We got hungry around midnight, but everything seem close, after 45 min driving around, we found a poutine place, with a lot of students in it ^_^!. When I got home Hinote and I were watching stuff or our Ipod, trying to catch up on Heroes for me and Gossip girl for her.

Sunday was calm, my cousin kid baptism and a small dinner after.My mom made so much food, I spend the weekend eating. She also got the counter full of different desserts and basket full of chocolate. It always nice to go in my hometown, even if my life is elsewhere now.

We left early monday, long drive again, we got home at midnight. I will be so tired tomorrow at work.

Patch 3.1 is out for wow tomorrow. Ulduar raid, dual specs, Agent tournment and talents point reset. Time to relearn how to play your class again.
